Submission for "Code for a Cause x Micro Jam"

Theme: "Everything has a Cost"

Once There is a short narrative-driven 2D platformer where every UI element is part of the puzzle. Drag, move, and sacrifice your interface to progress, but each action has a cost. As you go deeper, your tools disappear one by one. What remains when everything's gone?

Platform : PC (WebGL) Playable with Keyboard and Mouse

In Once There, every action comes with a cost, not in points or resources, but in the very controls you rely on.

To progress, the player must sacrifice parts of their interface: movement, jumping, even the ability to pause.

What begins as a simple platformer slowly transforms into a quiet meditation on loss, control, and acceptance.
- Move using A/D or Left/Right Arrow Keys

- Spacebar to Jump (if you still have the button...)

- Right Click and Drag UI elements (like Jump, Pause, Left, Right) into the level

- Drag UI elements back to its original spot to regain its functionality

UI can be used as platforms, weights, shields, etc. Once a UI element is gone, it’s gone for good.

The more you push forward, the less you’re left with, until all that remains is the choice to let go
